Proofing

Proofing has come a long way since the days of the IRIS these days, more often than not, we make one proof and then it's ago. Some customers who print with us on a regular basis don't even make proofs.

Proofing is a joint process involving the artist and the printmaker. When you create your artwork on your computer inevitably your computer and printer are not calibrated in the same way as our printers. If you have created an original work on canvas or paper you have unlimited choices in your color palette, but with a digital print you will be using our inks and papers which offer different color choices.

In proofing the printmakers at Silicon Gallery work with you to produce the color and look you need for your artwork on our printers and paper. This process may involves a few rounds depending on the nature of your work and your vision.

Silicon provides proofs for you to check for color and for any flaws in the print. We strongly recommend that you review these very closely - especially the final proof. Any artifacts created by the printmaking process will be corrected free of charge. Any flaws you miss in proofing will be billable.

Silicon Gallery offers a BAT ("bon a tirer" (literally good to print)- or full size proof) at discounted rates to assist in the review process.
